Mental Health Care for Service Members and Veterans

Proudly Supporting Those Who Serve

Military service can affect the body, nervous system, relationships, sleep, mood, and sense of connection long after a deployment or transition home. Z&Z Wellness provides compassionate, medically supervised care for active-duty service members, veterans, and military families navigating complex mental health and chronic health concerns.

We understand that symptoms do not always fit neatly into one diagnosis. Depression may exist alongside trauma, pain, sleep disruption, anxiety, hypervigilance, or difficulty reconnecting with everyday life. Our approach begins with listening carefully, understanding your treatment history, and determining what options may be appropriate for you.

Areas We Commonly Evaluate

Treatment-Resistant Depression
Persistent depression that has not adequately improved with traditional medications or therapy.

PTSD and Trauma-Related Symptoms
Including intrusive memories, emotional numbness, avoidance, heightened alertness, disrupted sleep, and difficulty feeling safe.

Anxiety and Hypervigilance
Ongoing nervous-system activation, irritability, restlessness, racing thoughts, or difficulty relaxing.

Chronic Pain and Mood Changes
Pain can affect sleep, energy, relationships, function, and emotional well-being. We consider the connection between physical and mental health.

Loss of Function and Quality of Life
Difficulty engaging in work, family life, relationships, treatment, or activities that once felt meaningful.

Treatment Options

Depending on your diagnosis, health history, previous treatments, and individual needs, care may include:

  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication management

  • IV ketamine treatment

  • SPRAVATO® evaluation and treatment

  • Coordination with therapists, primary-care providers, pain specialists, or other members of your care team

  • Ongoing monitoring of symptoms, function, safety, and treatment response

Not every treatment is appropriate for every person. Recommendations are made only after a complete clinical evaluation.

Why Ketamine May Be Considered

Ketamine is a rapid-acting treatment option most commonly considered for treatment-resistant depression. Unlike many traditional antidepressants, ketamine affects the brain’s glutamate system and may work through different pathways.

A 2024 study of 215 veterans receiving IV ketamine within the VA Health System found that nearly half experienced a clinically meaningful decrease in depression symptoms during the initial six weeks of treatment. Approximately one-quarter experienced a reduction of 50% or more. These veterans had significant treatment histories and had previously tried multiple antidepressant medications.

Research into ketamine for PTSD and chronic pain in military populations is also growing, although more research is still needed.

Care That Respects Your Experience

Our goal is not to reduce your experience to a diagnosis or place you into a standardized treatment path. We provide clear information, thoughtful screening, and care that respects your service, your history, and your goals.

You can expect:

  • A private and judgment-free environment

  • Careful medical and psychiatric screening

  • Honest conversations about benefits, risks, and alternatives

  • Individualized treatment planning

  • Ongoing monitoring and follow-up

  • Collaboration with your established providers when appropriate

For Active-Duty Service Members

For Veterans

We understand that active-duty service members may have additional concerns related to readiness requirements, medication policies, documentation, confidentiality, or coordination with military healthcare systems. These issues should be discussed openly during your consultation so that you understand how treatment may affect your individual circumstances.

Veterans may be able to receive certain services through VA Community Care depending on eligibility, referral requirements, diagnosis, and local availability. Coverage is not automatic, and authorization should be confirmed before treatment begins.

Take the Next Step

A consultation is an opportunity to discuss your symptoms, treatment history, and goals and determine whether Z&Z Wellness is the right fit for your care.
